Raffaele ROMAGNOLI

SAAS - Service d'Automatique et Analyse des Systèmes

Biography

Raffaele Romagnoli received the Ph.D. degree in control system and automation specialized in optimal and robust control system theory from the Universit\'{a} Politecnica delle Marche (UNIVPM), Ancona, Italy, in 2015. From 2015 to 2017, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Department of Control Engineering and System Analysis (SAAS), Universit\'{e} Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Brussels, Belgium. After being a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), Pittsburgh, PA, USA, he is now a Research Scientist in the same institution working on safe and secure control of AI robotics applications and edge computing. He is still currently collaborating with the Software Engineering Institute at (CMU) where he has been working on secure control for cyber-physical systems.

Research Activities

Smart Testing and Selective Quarantine. 2020 – 2022

This project aims at defining smart policies for the selection of the individuals that must be tested during an epidemic with the goal of maximizing the effectiveness of selective quarantine measures.

Project PANTHEON. 2018-2021

H2020 project PANTHEON EU project focuses on the development of a new architecture for precision agriculture for large-scale hazelnut orchards. The research project aims at developing a new Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for the precision farming of hazelnut orchards.

His other research interests are nonlinear control, control of biological systems, energy storage (Li-ion batteries), space applications in microgravity conditions, and model inversion.
